
In the framework of the EU Creative Europe Programme a consortium of partners from Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine is implementing a comics genre development project Visual Stories from Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine.
The project will offer a series of webinars by European experts on different aspect of comics books creation and marketing, as well as on self-entrepreneurship, copyright and contracting issues for comics writers, artists and publishers. Here is the webinar on Historical Research for Comics by a Dutch artist Guido van Hengel.
Guido van Hengel is a writer, historian and cultural coordinator in the field of comics. He received his PhD in cultural history from the University of Groningen. In 2018 he published a book on visionary and utopian thinkers during the First World War and the interwar period in Europe. The Seers (in Dutch: Zieners), was translated into Serbian and Croatian in 2020, and published by Clio (Belgrade). In 2021 he published The Pack (in Dutch: Roedel), a collection of reportages about stray dogs and humans in postwar Yugoslavia.
