The Parallels International Literature Festival

The Parallels International Literature Festival

The Parallels International Literature Festival welcomes writers, poets, translators, and festival curators from across the globe to uncover the unexpected and often unseen parallels between cultures, literatures, and languages. Rather than presenting each literary tradition as an isolated cultural phenomenon, the festival seeks to spark dialogue that emphasizes what binds us together, shifting the focus from differences to shared human experiences.

Through readings, discussions, and professional interactions, Parallels explores convergences and divergences in literary histories, infrastructures, and narratives, sharing experiences, and adopting best practices.

International Visibility

The Write in Armenia International Writing Camp

The Write in Armenia International Writing Camp

The Write in Armenia International Writing Camp is one of the most dynamic literary projects in Armenia, creating opportunities for young writers to get together in a ten-day extensive creative writing program to learn from each other and about each other. The program of the camp is developed in cooperation with the International Writing Program of the University of Iowa and is based on their model of Between the Lines program. The establishment of Write in Armenia International Writing Camp was supported by US Embassy in Armenia in 2017.

IWC consists of lectures on literature and other creative disciplines, writing sessions, sessions on photo, video and onstage performances, play-writing, slam poetry, team building and communication exercises, readings, group discussions, National 101 days, cultural tours, and a lot of fun.

Calouste Gulbenkian Translation Series

Calouste Gulbenkian Translation Series

ARI Literature Foundation coordinates a major literary project in Armenia – a translation series initiated by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The goal of this initiative is to make fundamental texts in the humanities and social sciences accessible in Armenian, enriching high-quality scholarly resources.

As part of this project, the Foundation also develops translation workshops in Armenia, including workshops for emerging translators, helping to expand the pool of qualified professionals. All these activities foster meaningful cultural exchange in Armenia.

The project further contributes to the modernization of the Armenian language through new terminological vocabularies and supports translation and publishing cooperation programs with local and international partners.
