The discussion of the Armenian translation of Jürgen Habermas's work "Structural Change of Publicity" at YSU
The discussion over the Armenian translation of Jürgen Habermas’s work “Structural Change of Publicity” published in the framework of Caloust Gulbenkian translation series was organized in the library of the Yerevan State University.
The translator of the work Hrachya Stepanyan, the director of the ARI Literature Foundation Arevik Ashkharoyan, the dean of the Faculty of Sociology and Philosophy Artur Mkrtichyan, lecturers and students of the Student Scientific Council were present at the meeting.
Issues related to the Armenian translation of the works by modern philosophers, the urgent need for professional dictionaries and creation of a new terminological vocabulary and its circulation were discussed.
Artur Mkrtichyan mentioned the importance of such programs, the need for Armenian translation of works of philosophers and thinkers not yet translated and published in Armenia and their availability in university libraries, as students often have to read the relevant works in other languages, available in the library.
The cooperation with YSU Faculty of Sociology will be continuous and the next meetings will also host students, lecturers from the faculties of philosophy, journalism and other humanitarian science faculties.
