In the framework of regional visits of DIFFERENT STORIES Picture Books project on July 6th ARI Literature Foundation team visited Ararat region, the city of Artashat where we were hosted by The Regional Library of Ararat to present the books “I Speak Through Dancing” and “The Champion” published as part of the project.
The guests of the event were the second, third- and fourth-year schoolchildren.
They read and discussed the books, talked about kindness, impartial friendship, support, help, and the importance of dreaming and achieving goals set by themselves.
Then we asked the students to describe in one word what the books were about. Among the answers were strength, will, dream, goal, love, friendship, kindness, diligence. We also talked with the students about their goals and future profession preferences.
We also talked with their teachers and the librarians of the host library, who mentioned the importance and effectiveness of such events, during which such topics as disability, tolerance, friendship, determination are presented to children through books.
We would like to express our gratitude to Ararat regional library staff for organizing the meeting and hosting us.
